The Art Interview - 22nd International Online Artist Competition is a quarterly, international, juried exhibition of paintings, drawings and sculptures in any medium. It is open to all living artists worldwide aged 16 and up. Participation in the Art Interview Biennale Exhibition and a total of € 17,000 in cash may be awarded each quarter to all winners. First place winners receive up to € 10,000 plus a featured interview in Art Interview Online Magazine.The competition is run completely over the Internet, which eliminates the need for you to send slides or arrange for physical transportation of your artworks. Austin Art Space Gallery and Studios officially opened submissions for the 6th Annual “12 Buy 12” Holiday Art Show & Sale. The show is one of three juried shows held each year at the gallery that have drawn entries from all over the U.S. and as far away as Europe, South Africa and New Zealand.

This show has grown to include international entries, but has stayed true to its founding vision: the best and the brightest and most fun art for the holiday season. The show celebrates the 12th month and the size must be 12”x12”. Entries are open to both 2-D and 3-D artists.

The juror for this year is Carl McQueary. Carl is a knowledgeable collector, art scholar and life-long Texas historian. Recognizing the importance of Texas Modern Art, he curates exhibits at Austin Museum of Art, Laguna Gloria and others; expanding the knowledge, appreciation, and promotion of artists from early Texas Modernists to today’s artists. Starting on May 22nd, the Riverwalk Arts & Jazz summer series begins its second season! Every fourth Saturday a variety of arts forms will be showcased along the Riverwalk in Downtown Milford from 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Come, relax & enjoy!

Different art and entertainment every month. The music line up on May 22nd begins from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m., with the stylings of Shawn Qaissaunee and Sharon Sable as they work their magic with a bossa nova feel. Check them out at www.Esqmusic.com. Then, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. groove to the Havre de Grace, MD based blues band; "The Elliott James Band".

Story behind McGee's new works
This recent oil spill has affected my painting and is revealed in the colors and images of my new show. Water is a central part of our very existence. It not only is crucial for us to stay alive it enriches our aesthetic experiences. Looking out over the ocean or sitting next to a babbling brook restores a sense of inner beauty and contentment with the world. I hope that my new works will make others ponder this incredible resource and realize that we must act to protect all our precious water resources. My work is a personal journey of exploration into the realm of the spiritual through the alchemy of paint, color, light, texture and the poetics of space.

My paintings are records of this intuitive journey. My paintings are densely layered compositions made over time with numerous layers of thick and thin washes and glazes.
