The Junior League of Raleigh, Inc. (JLR) and Visual Art Exchange present the Down Home: Portraits of the Old North State juried art exhibition, October 21-24, 2010. This exhibit is a special feature of the JLR’s A Shopping SPREE!, an annual four-day shopping fundraiser that attracts approximately 12,000 shoppers annually from around the country.

“The Human Condition” will feature only photo-based work which should be an exploration of human existence in a political, social, and/or personal context. The theme is open to each individual’s interpretation.

The Juror for The Human Condition is Diana Stoll, Senior Editor of Aperture Magazine, arguably the world's finest photographic magazine. Aperture showcases the finest photos existing in the industry, and profiles the fields most proclaimed artists. Castell Photography is honored and excited to have Diana juror "The Human Condition."

The Rising Arts Gallery is pleased to announce the Third Annual "Represent Brooklyn" exhibition, rescheduled for November 13th to December 11th 2010. The exhibition features selected painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media art by artists who work and live in and whose artwork is inspired by Brooklyn.

“Represent Brooklyn” is an exhibition designed to bring together artists, art collectors, art organizations and community members that live and work in Brooklyn. The paintings, sculptures, photographs, prints and mixed media artwork included in the show provides a glimpse of the diverse range of creative style and visual presentation found in Brooklyn.

As Sitar Arts Center celebrates 10 years of providing arts to the community, our 1st juried exhibit will showcase work from local artists, including student and parent artists from the Center.
Images should represent
• how you see your community
• how you relate to family
• your idea of home
• relationships with friends or peers
• how world events such as weather, politics or social change may affect the world around you.
Work must be created by the artist stated on the work and have a personal significance. Images must be appropriate for school age children. Mediums accepted for submission are 2D art, found art, photography, painting, mixed media, drawing, digital art, ceramic, printmaking, clay, wood, fiber, paper and sculpture; no video, film, installation or performance art. Downtown Milford Inc. of Milford, DE is proud to bring back the fun and successful Riverwalk Arts & Jazz outdoors summer fine arts series! The first day of this exciting exhibition will soon be here. RA&J is looking for musicians, poets, fine artists/artisans and performers to participate sell their work and showcase their talents! This event will be held the fourth Saturday of each month beginning May 22nd and running through September. Each event will be from 11:00 am- 8:00 pm, music will continue until 9:00pm. Fine artists, artisans and performers will exhibit and perform throughout the businesses, streets and Riverwalk of beautiful, historic Milford, Delaware.

The gallery will be participating in the FotoWeek DC 2010 Festival by hosting our biennial small works show, this year with an emphasis on photo based mediums.

Our juror is Kathleen Ewing, owner of Kathleen Ewing Gallery, which specializes in photography. She represents over 40 contemporary photographers and maintains an inventory of 19th and 20th century vintage photographs. She was the Executive Director of The Association of International Photography Art Dealers, from 1991 to 2007 and is also the Executive Director of the Art Dealers Association of Greater Washington.
