GARRY KNOX BENNETT, JEAN AND NORMAN MOORE’S COLLECTION OF LATIN AMERICAN ART, AND ART GUILD OF PACIFICA’S “ANYTHING GOES” AT SANCHEZ ART CENTER

Pacifica – Sanchez Art Center, the well established cornerstone of Pacifica’s growing art scene, is proud to present its next trio of exhibitions running from May 31 through June 30, 2013.  Hot on the heels of its successful 2013 Left Coast Annual Exhibition, Sanchez offers “Garry Knox Bennett: Selected Works – A Broad Spectrum, 1963 – 2013” in the Main Gallery, Art Guild of Pacifica’s “Anything Goes” in the West Gallery, and “The Jean & Norman Moore Collection: Latin American Artists of the 60’s & 70’s” in the East Gallery.   These exhibitions open on Friday evening, May 31, 2013, with a reception from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. including the Afro-Peruvian and Latin World music of band Cara Cunde.

Though one works in watercolor and the other in oil, two artists whose work is on display at Crossings through the month of June share a common goal to capture light and color over photo-realistic renderings of landscapes and objects. A reception for the artists' "Light in the Moment" show is Sat., June 15, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

HeeJune Shin of Rochester and Wendy Westlake of Zumbrota each say that the “truth” they seek to capture in a work has to do with the colors brought out by the play of light on a tree or pond.

 Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is pleased to announce that its June 2013 art exhibition “Figurative” is now posted on their website and is ready to view online.  The theme for this art exhibition is “Figurative” and artists were asked to submit their best figurative art for the gallery’s May art competition.

The gallery received submissions from 23 different countries from around the world and they also received entries from 32 different states. Overall, there were 592 entries were judged for this art competition.

PaperWorks: Let the Magic of Paper Unfold
June 1- July 7, 2013

Opening Reception: Saturday June 1st, 2013 from 7 - 9 pm

This exciting show highlights artwork made from all forms of paper products and is a fresh look at the potential of paper. Ranging from installation work, collage, origami, sculpture, figurines, paper-mache and flip-books, this exhibition is a unique collection of work that begs to be explored.  Fun classes, videos and workshops are offered during the exhibition.

 June is an exciting month at Angora Gallery this year, with three memorable exhibitions to get the summer off to a great start. The Manifestation of Milieu shows artists taking the familiar and adding a sense of the unusual to it, with each work of art becoming a window into a world similar to ours, but where anything seems possible. In Pulse of Abstraction, a feeling of energy, movement and fulfilling life infuses the works, reaching out to touch the audience and encourage us to respond with courage and conviction. In Kaneko Johkoh's solo exhibition, thoughtful consideration merges with an attractively impulsive method to create Sumi ink paintings of power and potency. The exhibitions open on June 4, 2013 and continue until June 25, 2013, with an opening reception on the evening of Thursday, June 6, 2013.
